Pressing the case for faster trains to Deal

This week, the Pfizer task force reported and made the case for an Enterprise Zone in East Kent as well as more inward investment. It's really important we get more investment as Pfizer accounts for so many local well paid jobs. The Taskforce also made the case for local high speed train stops.

After the meeting, I met with Kent County Council leader Cllr Paul Carter to press the case for high speed trains to stop at Deal.

I pointed out the urgency of the situation for Deal. If the fast train stops at Deal, journey times to London will be cut from 2.5 hours to 1.5 hours. This would make a massive difference to rail users and give a welcome boost to our local economy. It is essential that we see faster trains for Deal as soon as possible.
