Pitman training praised

It was a huge privilege this week to present Stacie Pettman (third from left)with an award for being the student of the year at Pittman Training in Dover. Paula Elliott (third from right) who runs Pittman Training has done great work in encouraging people to take courses that will give them more skills. Skills in turn lead to more jobs and money – something we all know we have too little of in Dover & Deal.

Help for smaller business really matters locally where we have so many smaller businesses employing less than 250 people. The expansion of apprenticeships will help more people get on the ladder to work. Over the next few months, I expect to see many measures rolled out that will do more to help smaller businesses.

Smaller businesses are the job creators – they account for 6 out of 10 jobs across the UK – and have increased jobs by 1 million over the last decade while big business has got rid of 1 million jobs.
